Friends of the Puyallup Library: Sponsoring Enriching and Whimsical Events for the Community
The Friends of the Puyallup Library, a dedicated non-profit organization made of up local volunteers, have outdone themselves once again in 2024. Through the sale of donated books, membership dues, and corporate sponsorships, the Friends have raised significant funds to host a variety of engaging and enriching events for library-goers of all ages. These innovative programs not only foster a love for reading but also create memorable experiences that bring the community closer together. Here’s a look at some of the exciting events sponsored by the Friends of the Puyallup Library so far this year:
Summer Reading Program
This year’s Summer Reading Program was a resounding success, drawing in over 1,200 enthusiastic participants. The program was designed to keep library-goers active and engaged over the summer months, offering incentives for reading and a series of themed activities and discussions.
Old McDebbie's Petting Zoo
A delightful highlight of the early summer was Old McDebbie's Petting Zoo, which brought farm life to the heart of Puyallup. Children and parents alike had the opportunity to interact with a variety of friendly farm animals. The hands-on nature of this event provided not only joy and excitement but also valuable educational experiences about animal care and agriculture.
Magical Moments with Jeff Evans
Magician Jeff Evans wowed the audience with his incredible sleight-of-hand tricks and captivating illusions. His family-friendly show was a blend of magic and comedy, keeping attendees of all ages spellbound and entertained. Comedy with Alex Zerbe

Pirate-Themed Scavenger Hunt

With maps and clues, participants embarked on an adventurous quest to uncover hidden treasures within the library's nooks and crannies. Wearable Tech: Light-Up Bracelets
The future of fashion is bright, thanks to the Wearable Tech event where participants crafted their own light-up bracelets. This workshop combined creativity with basic electronics, teaching attendees how to design and assemble bracelets that light up with LED technology.
